Honor Magic V3 is here to rival Galaxy Z Fold 6 with thinner design, nice specs
Samsung announced its most anticipated foldable phones on July 10 in Paris. Yesterday, Honor launched the new Magic V3, which challenges the Galaxy Z Fold 6 with a thinner design and some cool specs. The new Honor foldable is considerably thin compared to the phones available.
Honor’s new Magic V3 measures 9.2mm (camera bump not included) in its folded state. It goes further slimmer to 4.35mm when you unfold its 7.92-inch main screen. Oops, there’s a clearly visible hole for the camera on the inner display, with Galaxy Z Fold 6 featuring UDC for years.
The Chinese vendor managed to make its new foldable slimmer with an upgraded hinge of 2.84mm thickness. It won’t break before 500,000 folds while the frame is made from 7-series aluminum alloy. It’s the most highlighting spec that makes it superior to its Samsung counterpart.
Samsung reduced the weight of the Z Fold 6 to 239 grams but the Magic V3 weighs just 226 grams. Honor also brought IPX8 water resistance to the Magic V3, making it the first in the lineup to feature official protection against water insertion.
Galaxy Z Fold 6 packs a 4400mAh battery, but Honor’s Magic V3 has an edge here too. It boasts a 5150mAh silicon-carbon battery with 66W wired and 50W wireless charging. Both devices use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, offering robust performance and efficiency.
Honor Magic V3 comes with a 6.43-inch LTPO cover screen with FHD+ resolution. It’s also rated for 2,500 nits peak brightness and supports stylus input. Notably, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 also supports S Pen input but on the inner panel only with a special pen crafted by Samsung.
In terms of optics, the Magic V3 features a 50MP primary with OIS, a 50MP Periscope with 3.5x optical zoom, and a 40MP ultrawide camera. The cover and main screens also house 20MP front-facing cameras. It lacks under-display camera technology which arrived 3rd time on a Samsung Fold.

Apple continued to uplevel iPhone experiences with each generation. The design changes are tough in iPhones due to the arrangement of components. However, these limitations aren’t impossible to solve but require a will to enhance.
Huawei officially launched the world’s first Tri-Fold phone, folding Samsung’s dreams. It was previously reported that Samsung will be the first to debut its tri-fold phone. However, the Chinese phone maker managed to win the battle.
Samsung Display showcased its tri-fold phone prototypes at many occasions. Meanwhile, turning the prototype into a consumer product itself a major milestone. Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design became the world’s first Tri-Fold phone.
Featuring dual hinge and triple screens, the Mate XT Ultimate Design can turn into a full size tablet. It becomes as portable as a regular bar type smartphone, offering ease of handling alongside PC-like display offering.
Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design comes with a huge 10.2-inch screen. Thanks to its form factor, you can use it as a 6.4-inch or 7.9-inch screen phone. It uses an OLED panel with LTPO tech, 1440Hz PWM dimming and 240Hz touch sampling rate.

Despite having large screen and dual hinges, the device weighs only 238 grams. Also, less weight doens’t mean compromise in battery capacity. The Mate XT packs 5600mAh battery supporting 66W wired and 50W wireless charging.
In terms of optics, the Mate XT has a 12MP ultrawide, a 50MP primary and a 12MP Telephoto with 5.5x optical zoom, plus an 8MP selfie snapper. The sensor is capable of capturing shots at 50x digital zoom, which is also equipped with OIS tech.
HuaweiCentral reports that bookings have already started and the first sale is targeted for September 20. The Mate XT Ultimate Design is launched at the following prices in China (conversion in dollar and euro for reference only):

- 16GB+512GB = 21999 yuan (3,108 USD, 2,800 Euros)

OnePlus 13 arriving months before Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra. The phone could launch in mainland China, with a Global release taking place in early 2025. There would be some similarities between Samsung and OnePlus flagships.
In a recent development, OnePlus China president Li Jie Louis hinted that the OnePlus 13 could be released in October. The company executive also revealed that the device will be powered by “the latest generation of flagship chips.”
Apart from this, OnePlus’ Louis also highlighted that “this chip” would have a custom architecture and was designed by the team behind “epoch-making PC chips.” It’s another confirmation the next Snapdragon chip will feature custom Oryon CPU cores.
Qualcomm will introduce Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset next month. The company has developed the Oryon CPU, which previously debuted in Snapdragon X PC processors. It’s the same chip as the Galaxy S25 Ultra will surely flaunt.
Previously, it was revealed that OnePLus 13 will feature an IP68/IP69 rating, a 6.8-inch 2K screen, and a huge battery (6,000mAh+). The triple camera setup could consist of a 50MP LYT-808 main camera and two 50MP LYT-600 cameras (3x and ultrawide).
Well, Samsung is making some major changes in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The design is getting revamped with hardware specs are also getting upgraded. There will be a total of three 50MP cameras, a 200MP sensor alongside a selfie camera.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 for Galaxy could power the S25 Ultra. It will have a slight performance boost over the standard Snapdragon. However, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will lag behind the OnePlus 13 in terms of battery capacity and charging speed.
OnePlus 13 would be available in the United States as well. It will present pro-grade hardware specs at aggressive pricing to the market. Despite these factors, the company won’t be able to eat much slice from Samsung’s share in the market.
