[Report] Samsung wants Galaxy Z Fold 7 to be as thin as the S24 Ultra
Samsung wants to make the next Galaxy Z Fold phone to be thinner than a regular bar-type phone. The company has recently launched the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which is 1.3mm slimmer and 14 grams lighter than its predecessor.
According to KEDGlobal, TM Roh instructed Samsung engineers to make the next Galaxy Z Fold phone thinner than the S24 Ultra. Not that all, the engineers are reportedly ordered to further reduce the thickness to 7mm when folded.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is 12mm thick when folded and weighs 239 grams. It’s a sharp decline in both thickness and weight compared to the previous Fold models. The company wants to further solidify its edge in the global foldable market.
Samsung’s MX Division is also working to reduce the weight of the next foldables below 239 grams. The report mentions that a 10mm thick Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim could be launched by the end of this year, followed by thinner models in the future.
The Flim model of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 could have a larger 8-inch screen than the 7.6-inch Z Fold 6 screen when unfolded. These developments indicate that the Korean tech giant is working hard to make foldable phones its mainstream products similar to Galaxy S.
Samsung has launched task force teams for game development in four countries with research branches in Korea, the UK, China, and Ukraine. It’s also partnering with Google and other Android app developers to produce foldable-specific apps.
Samsung is slowly but amazingly reducing the thickness of Galaxy Z Fold models. The company’s first Galaxy Fold launched in 2019 was 17.1mm thick. Meanwhile, this year’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 has reached the thickness level of 12.1mm when folded.

The Korean tech giant may expand the Beta trial to select mid-range phones. Galaxy A55, Galaxy A35, and some Galaxy M series phones may also be eligible. Like every year, One UI 7 Beta should be available in at least 7 countries including the US.
One UI 7.0
Samsung is set to hold this year’s Developer Conference on October 3. The event’s stage will be utilized to introduce new One UI 7 features and enhancements. Besides, One UI 6 Watch and Tizen OS upgrades for TVs may also be unveiled by the Korean tech giant.
One UI Beta build can be installed on your primary handset, but we prefer avoiding it. If you don’t want to counter bugs and functional errors, Beta activity isn’t for you. Consider waiting till the Stable rollout commences as Samsung will also provide new features with One UI 6.1.1.
