Samsung Galaxy users facing folder layout issues after restart

Published

Samsung SmartThings September 2024 update

Some Galaxy users are facing an issue with the Samsung Home Up app. Users reported that the folder arrangement, which they set to a 4×4 grid, changes to a 3×3 grid after their device restarts automatically. This issue is currently noted on the Galaxy S22 series and may be faced by other smartphone users as well.

The Home Up issue occurs when the Galaxy device automatically restarts. Users notice that their folder layout, which was previously set as a 4×4 grid, changes to a 3×3 grid. This causes users to reset their folder arrangement every time the device restarts, which is too inconvenient and frustrating.

However, Samsung has acknowledged the issue and expressed an apology for the inconvenience it has caused. The team requested users to send in logs to help check out what’s going wrong. These logs will help Samsung find and fix the problem faster.

If you are also affected by this issue, you should send feedback and logs to Samsung Support via the Samsung Member app >> Get Help >> Send Error. For now, users should turn off the Home Up functions to avoid this issue.

Samsung One UI 6.1.1 home screen issue

If your Samsung phone’s home screen is freezing or rebooting after updating to One UI 6.1.1, you’re not alone. Many Samsung users are facing issues where their home screen is not functioning properly.  This problem is particularly frustrating for people as it hinders a good user experience.

One of the reasons for crashing or freezing is that changing or disabling system apps through development mode or certain apps might affect the Home screen on your Samsung smartphone. When essential system components are altered, it can cause instability.

Fortunately, Samsung has shared a solution for this issue. To address and potentially resolve it, users can try resetting the app settings.

Here’s how you do this:

  • Navigate to the device’s Settings menu.
  • Go to the ‘Apps’ section.
  • Tap the three vertical dots located at the top right corner of the screen to open more options.
  • Select ‘Reset app settings’ from the dropdown menu.

It is important to note that resetting app settings will restore all app preferences to their default state. This means that notification settings and default app choices will be reset. Users need to set these settings according to their preferences.

If the issue persists despite resetting app settings, or if you encounter any other inconveniences, you can contact the Samsung customer service call center at 1588-3366. The support team can provide expert guidance to help resolve the problem effectively.

Facing Google Maps app crashes on Android? Try this quick fix

Google Maps Crashing issues

Several Android users have recently reported that Google Maps keeps crashing. The issue affects Android users using both stable and beta versions of the app, specifically with versions 11.144.x and 11.145.x.

Users on various Android devices including Pixel and Samsung Galaxy phones have noted that Google Maps opens normally but then closes suddenly after a few seconds. This makes the app unusable for checking maps or getting directions.

Notably, the issue seems to be more common for those on the Android 15 Beta, though people with the stable version are also facing the same.

If you’re experiencing this issue, you can try a temporary solution to fix it. You can uninstall recent updates of Google Maps, just need to go to the App info page, and tap on the Uninstall updates option and this may help to fix.

Since Google Maps is often preinstalled on devices, you can’t completely uninstall it. Older versions of the app don’t seem to have this problem, so rolling back to a previous version could be a solution for now.

As of now, Google hasn’t acknowledged the issue or commented on releasing a fix. Not everyone is having this issue, so if your Google Maps is still working, that’s good. If you facing the Google Maps issue, you need to pause updates until this issue is resolved. Stay tuned for updates from Google for a permanent solution.
