[PSA] All Galaxy S24 won’t get One UI 7 Beta in the US

Samsung May 2024 update list

Samsung is gearing up to kick off this year’s One UI Beta Program. If you are waiting for One UI 7 Beta, do remember that all Galaxy S24 users won’t be eligible for it in the US. The company’s previous distribution strategy signals limited Beta presence.

Over the years, Samsung made significant improvements in its software distribution. The company still faces criticism over a phased rollout, delayed firmware deployment, and limited Good Lock availability. One UI Beta Program also has a controversial spot.

The One UI 7 Beta will be available in the US, but not for all consumers. The company will avail the firmware to carrier-unlocked models in the country. Meanwhile, carrier-locked models are not eligible for the Beta firmware given previous rollouts.

T-Mobile is an exception here.

Despite incompatibility with carrier variants, Samsung and T-Mobile offer One UI Beta trial to Galaxy users. This year as well, the Galaxy S24 series will be eligible to test the Beta alongside unlocked models.

One UI 7 will be based on the new Android 15 operating system. We expect core security enhancements and a crucial privacy boost. The Gemini Nano will also see some upgrades with the new OS resulting in an enhanced AI experience.

Galaxy AI will also add new useful features for compatible devices. This time, the expansion of AI features could not be like the first phase. However, Galaxy users would surely get amazed experiencing the big upgrade to One UI.

James is the lead content creator on Sammy Fans and mostly works on Samsung's firmware section. His first phone was the Galaxy S4 and continues to get new S series devices. Most of the time, James tries to learn about new technologies and gadgets but he also sneaks a bit of free time to nearby rivers and nature.

Samsung is actively working to roll out the One UI 6.1.1 update for all eligible Galaxy devices. In the meantime, the company hasn’t overlooked the Samsung Galaxy XCover 5, which is now receiving the One UI 6.1 update. Though this major update was delayed, users of this rugged smartphone can finally take advantage of several new features.

Right now, the One UI 6.1 update for Samsung Galaxy XCover 5 is available in South Korea and it may take a few days or weeks to reach other countries. Users can identify this update by the build number G525NKXUAEXI1.

Moreover, the update enhances data security with improved Samsung Cloud services and introduces Passkey for quicker sign-ins. Additional enhancements have been made to the Finder, battery settings, weather widget, Health app, and more.

To install the One UI 6.1 update on your smartphone, go to Settings and scroll to the Software Update section. Open it and select ‘Download and Install’ to apply the update if it’s available.

One UI 6.1 is likely to be the last major feature update for the Galaxy XCover 5. It seems that most mid-range Galaxy devices will directly update from One UI 6.1 to the upcoming One UI 7.0, skipping One UI 6.1.1.
