Samsung pauses Galaxy S23’s One UI 6.1.1 rollout due to camera glitch

Samsung Galaxy S23 June 2024 update Canada

Samsung has reportedly pulled the Galaxy S23’s One UI 6.1.1 rollout. Starting September 12, the company pushed the new One UI update to its older flagships. However, a weird camera glitch seemingly forced to halt the rollout.

It looks like Samsung stopped Galaxy S23’s One UI 6.1.1 distribution. Earlier, the lineup started getting the update in Europe, India, and other markets. There is a weird flaw in the S23’s camera zoom function, which is suspected as the reason.

Users report the bug causing ghosting in photos captured at zoom levels between 16x and 19.9x. Surprisingly, the native camera app is only affected; you can capture accurate images through the Expert RAW app.

This issue doesn’t affect any other phones, so only the rollout for the S23 Ultra was halted. It was recently reported that the company has acknowledged the issue and working on incremental firmware to address the glitch.

Consumers who have installed One UI 6.1.1 will receive an incremental update. Other users who missed installing the release will get the update with the camera fix included. We hope the rollout will continue in a short period of delay.

Temporary Fix:

Open your Galaxy S23 Ultra’s camera settings and head towards the Intelligent Optimization function. Switch the current setting to Medium quality, which would make things better. Using the Expert RAW is also an option to avoid the glitch.
