Samsung’s new Auto SSD boosts On-Device AI capabilities
Samsung developed PCIe 4.0 Auto SSD that boosts on-device AI capabilities. The company today announced it has successfully developed the industry’s first PCIe 4.0 automotive SSD based on eighth-generation vertical NAND.
The new Auto SSD is an optimal solution for on-device AI capabilities in automotive applications. It offers about 50% improved power efficiency and delivers sequential read and write speeds of up to 4,400MB/s, respectively.
Samsung’s new 256GB Auto SSD is built on its 5nm controller and features a SLC (single-level cell) Namespace feature. This notable change lets users enjoy boosted read and write speeds of up to 4,700MB/s and 1,400MB/s, respectively.
Apart from this, the Korean tech giant also highlighted that its new auto SSD satisfies the automotive semiconductor quality standard AEC-Q1003 Grade 2, ensuring stable performance over a wide temperature range of -40°C to 105°C.
Samsung would begin mass production by the end of this year, with plans including multiple storage capacities for the AM9C1 ranging from 128GB to 2TB. It would help address the growing demand for high-capacity automotive SSDs.
A new Necro Trojan has been stealthily infiltrating millions of Android devices through Play Store apps. Benqu’s Wuta Camera and Max Browser were confirmed to have been affected by the Android malware Trojan, putting millions of users’ data at risk.
Mod versions of WhatsApp, Spotify, and Minecraft are also suspected to have included the new Android malware Trojan. These applications are usually distributed on unofficial websites and app stores, hence, their reach can not be quantified.
Google is seemingly aware of the Trojan and the apps housing it, and it is currently investigating the issue. This kind of flaw can download and execute arbitrary code, potentially leading to subscription fraud, and route malicious traffic.
We highly recommend using apps downloaded only from Google Play or Galaxy Store. In case you’ve sideloaded any mod app, you should uninstall it immediately. Also, if you are the user of the two affected apps, uninstall is advised.
Benqu’s Wuta Camera
It has more than 10 million downloads, which contained the Necro Trojan from version 6.3.2.148 (July 18) through version 6.3.6.148 (August 20).
Max Browser
Google has now removed Max Browser from the Play Store, which had over 1 million installs. BleepingComputer reported that its latest version 1.2.0 still houses the malware.
A Samsung Galaxy Buds FE reportedly exploded causing permanent hearing damage. A Turkish user reported one of his earbuds exploded in the ear. The company apologized and offered a new pair of Buds FE, which is absolutely nonsense.
Galaxy Buds FE is Samsung’s affordable TWS earbuds offering. We haven’t heard any incident about the explosion, but it doesn’t mean it can never happen. The affected user found legal options after dissatisfaction on Samsung’s part.
Here’s what happened (as per the user):
A Turkish user bought the Buds FE to grow his Samsung ecosystem with a pre-owned Galaxy S24 Ultra. The earbuds came with 36% charging out of the box and the user’s girlfriend borrowed the Buds FE to give it a try.
The Galaxy Buds FE exploded in her ear, as the user noted. They approached a doctor to consult and they were informed that she “suffered a permanent hearing loss”. It isn’t very agreeable and Samsung must have to act seriously.
“I didn’t even charge it once, and the box came with about a 36% charge. When my girlfriend borrowed and put them on, the headphones exploded in her ear, and she suffered permanent hearing loss.” – The user said.
The situation got worse when the customer care executive called them and denied any sign of an explosion. The person informed the user that the Galaxy Buds FE “hadn’t exploded, only deformed” as well as offered a new pair in goodwill.
In case of permanent hearing loss, Samsung can’t satisfy the user even with 100 new pairs of Galaxy Buds FE. The company must order an inquiry over the quality of its affordable pair of truly wireless earbuds so any future incident can be prevented.
Samsung should thoroughly verify the cause of the explosion. The user must get financial support to meet adequate medical treatment. There wouldn’t be anything great if the user gets her ear treated caused loss by the explosion.

Samsung could not launch Galaxy XR device this year a new report says. The anticipated gadget is now rumored to be about 6 months late. The company has been developing an XR device in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm.
The report says Samsung has changed its initial Galaxy XR headset plan to start production at the end of the year and launch early next year. Now, it is expected to be produced and released in the second quarter of next year.
The South Korean tech giant reportedly delayed XR production by two quarters. Industry insiders believe that the XR device could not be produced this year. The schedule has been delayed by about 4-5 months, pushing the launch to 2H26.
Samsung seems to have adopted a wait-and-see approach by adjusting its production and release schedule. This is due to slower than expected growth of the XR market despite the release of Apple’s Vision Pro following Meta.
Smart XR Glasses
Recently, Qualcomm’s CEO revealed that the XR device could come as glasses, not a Vision Pro-like headset. The product could be integrated with artificial intelligence, offering a stunning experience connected to a smartphone.
Samsung’s XR would feature OLEDoS and direct and indirect time-of-flight (dToF and iToF) sensors. Despite its small size, it is classified as a next-generation display as it can achieve ultra-high resolution of over 4K.
