What does IPX8-rated water resistance mean for Galaxy Z Fold 3 or Z Flip 3?
Samsung‘s new Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 have similar moving parts to previous generations. Phones are somewhat resistant to things like waterfalls and minor stings, but folding phones add a whole new level of complexity to waterproofing. There are many other ways to go underwater and some of them have rock entry points.
According to Samsung, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the most durable foldable phone. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 uses the Gorilla Glass Victus on the outer screen, which is 50% stronger than the Gorilla Glass 6 found on the Galaxy Z Fold 2. The interior screen features a new protective film with a redesigned finish that enhances structural integrity up to 80%.
This is one of the biggest improvements as the internal display is likely to fail. The metal hinges and frame on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 are made with a new material called Armor Aluminum and are 10% stronger than the previous generation.
Adding to this, here are some tips on how to keep your Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 devices in their best condition:
What does IPX8-rated water resistance mean?
These are the first waterproof foldable smartphones in the world. The IPX8 rating means you can open the phone freely even if you get caught in the rain. However, this does not mean that they are dust resistant.
Follow these important tips below to make your foldable device work wonderfully and better.
Galaxy Z Fold 3 | Flip 3 supports IPX8 water resistance!
Both Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 devices support IPX8 water resistance. The devices have been tested in controlled settings and have been shown to be water-resistant in some cases. (International standard IEC 60529, IPX8 production, test conditions: 15-35 ℃, 86-106 kPa, freshwater, up to 1.5 m, up to 30 minutes).
For proper water resistance, please know the instructions below. Failure to follow the instructions below may affect the performance and appearance of your device.
- The Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 are water-resistant and can withstand the rain if left in outdoor situations for a while, such as camping.
- When dirty or smeared, you may clean your device with fresh water.
- As your device is water-resistant, it can withstand spills of freshwater from the kitchen or under other ordinary circumstances.
Note: IPX8-rated water resistance is only guaranteed when your device is free of any damage. If your device is exposed to the rain for an extended period of time or becomes submerged due to heavy rain, IPX8-rated water resistance is no longer guaranteed.
