What is Samsung Knox and how it protects your Galaxy devices?

Published

on

Samsung Knox is a mobile security solution that provides a secure environment for data and apps for all Galaxy devices. It protects your business and personal information from one device without the need for a third-party app or services.

Samsung has spent years perfecting our Knox security platform to provide the privacy you can trust in an uncertain world filled with looming threats and security breaches. Our mobile devices are designed with defense-grade security from the chip up, so your device is secured by Knox from the moment you first turn it on.

Safeguard your passwords with Samsung Pass

There’s only one you, and that’s why Samsung made sure your devices know that. With our innovative biometric authentication technology, including Face Recognition and Ultrasonic Fingerprint, access to your data can be protected even if your device is lost or stolen.

With Samsung Pass, your individual features allow you to easily, quickly and securely access important data — like your bank or email apps. No need to remember countless usernames and passwords.

Note: Biometric authentication feature availability may vary by device. The available functions, features, and compatible applications for Samsung Pass may vary by country due to differing regulatory and legal environments. Web log-in is only available in the Samsung Internet app.

Keep personal data personal with Secure Folder

Mobile devices have become our multi-purpose tools – our wallet, our phonebooks, our photo albums, our portable computers. For an extra layer of privacy, Secure Folder creates a separate encrypted space to store your data, meaning only you have access to the most private parts of your phone. A safe transaction with Samsung Pay

When paying with Samsung Pay on your mobile device, your card information is encrypted in a completely separate and secure data vault. Whether you’re making investments, transferring funds, or shopping for yourself, your transactions are secure and don’t leave behind a paper trail of receipts. Plus, as long as you have your phone, you’ll always have your credit card on hand.

Note: Availability of Samsung Pay may vary by device, bank, issuer, and country. Money transfer is currently available in select countries.

Extra security with blockchain

Your blockchain transactions are signed by private digital keys that need to be protected. With Samsung Blockchain Keystore, your keys are stored in a secure, isolated area, keeping them locked away safely until you need them.

Availability of Samsung Blockchain Keystore may vary by device and country.

Shield your health data

Your health data needs to be secure, too. The Samsung Health app allows you to track wellness metrics to help you manage your personal health, whether it’s diet, exercise, sleep, weight, or general lifestyle. Knox keeps that personal health data protected because your health is your business and nobody else’s.

Secure your connections

For everyday browsing, Secure Wi-Fi encrypts outgoing internet traffic and disables tracking apps and websites. It allows you to browse the internet safely on public wireless connections without fear of security breaches.

Note: Secure Wi-Fi feature availability may vary depending on the country, carrier, or network environment and may not be supported on all Samsung mobile devices. Fees may apply depending on Secure Wi-Fi usage.

Keep track of your smartphone

Your smartphone is an essential part of your life, but you’re only human. In case of loss or theft, the Find My Mobile service allows you to remotely locate your smartphone, backup data stored on the device to Samsung Cloud, lock the screen, and even block access to Samsung Pay. And if you need to, you can also delete all data stored on your device.

Multi-layered security built to protect

Offering multi-layered security, Knox integrates hardware, and software that works together to give you a high level of data protection, defending your most sensitive information from malware and malicious threats. Explore the four major components of our Knox security platform below.

Chip-up manufacturing

Samsung can design, create, and validate every computer chip, every piece of wiring, and every hardware component before using them to manufacture mobile devices in highly secure factories around the world. Control over design, manufacturing, and assembly ensures a secure supply chain and an end product you can trust completely.

Data encryption

Knox platform encrypts your data so it is not exposed or vulnerable, even in the event of theft or loss. Your data remains encrypted while your device is powered off and won’t be decrypted unless you choose to unlock it.

Data isolation

Samsung has designed its mobile devices with data isolation built into every component. It’s a double-lock for your sensitive data, meaning even if someone managed to get inside your phone, the only person who has real access is you.

Run-time protection

Run-time protection means your Samsung mobile device is always running in a safe state against data attacks or malware. Any unauthorized or unintended attempts to access or modify your phone’s core, the kernel, are blocked in real-time, all of the time.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra

Galaxy S25 Ultra could be Samsung’s sleekest Ultra flagship in years. The company could introduce the device in January 2025. Meanwhile, a Samsung leaker just exposed the design dimensions of the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

According to Ice Universe, the Galaxy S25 Ultra could have 162.8mm in height, 77.6mm in width, and 8.2mm in thickness. It means the device will look slightly larger than the S24 Ultra whereas the thickness and width will be lower.

Leaker Onleaks is about to reveal the Galaxy S25 Ultra design. A blurred image is already live on a landing page, which will be unveiled as soon as the funding threshold is completed. Once done, Samsung fans will have their first look at the next Ultra.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra is said to look different than the most recent Ultra models. The device won’t get sharp angular corners in favor of slightly rounded ones. The backplate could also be crafted keeping easier handling in mind.

Samsung’s next-gen Ultra flagship will also equip an upgraded camera. In particular, the ultrawide and 3x Telephoto sensors will be replaced with new solutions. The display could also be made of advanced material set to offer better power efficiency.

Ex-Mercedez designer is reportedly leading Samsung’s Mobile design team. The design evolution already started with the Galaxy Watch Ultra and Buds 3 products. However, a new Samsung design philosophy could be announced next year.

The render is getting unblurred gradually. We are quite excited about the rear design and camera module arrangement. It would be interesting to see if Samsung has made any major design modifications on the backplate.
