Reportedly, Samsung is going to launch the Galaxy S23 series at an Unpacked event in early February in the US, a company executive familiar with the matter cited koreajoongangdaily. It’s worth mentioning that the executive declined to specify the city or the exact date.

A responsible Qualcomm officer already revealed that Samsung’s next flagship lineup will solely use Snapdragon chipsets. The latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is manufactured by Taiwan’s TSMC, and the Galaxy S23 phones are likely to have an overclocked variant of the 8 Gen 2.

It’s also reported that the Galaxy S23 series devices may be priced higher than the S22 or S21 due to “inflationary pressures.” Since the demand for smartphones is weak and the global economy is facing a downturn due to the lockdown in China, Samsung may face difficulties in sales.

Samsung Galaxy S25 series to support Seamless Updates

Published

on

Seamless Updates is a long-due feature on Samsung, which could finally arrive with the Galaxy S25 series next year. The company is reportedly considering Seamless Updates support for its next-generation Galaxy S lineup.

Tipster ChunBhai claims that the Galaxy S25 series supports A/B (seamless) updates. Samsung’s Galaxy A55 5G also features A/B partition updates functionality. However, it hasn’t yet arrived on any flagship Galaxy device to date.

Notably, Seamless Updates require hardware-level setup. This means older Galaxy devices will still miss out on the advanced update installation method. If it debuts on the S25 series, future models may continue to feature Seamless Updates.

Google debuted A/B Partition a.k.a. Seamless Updates with Android 10. Virtual A/B updates have replaced Legacy A/B system updates in Android 10. Samsung has been refraining from bringing it to Galaxy flagships despite consumer demand.

Seamless Updates feature is 10x more beneficial than the conventional method. Users can continue to use their devices during an OTA. The only downtime during an update is when the device reboots into the updated disk partition.

Google Pixel phones install update while letting user continue using the phone. When the entire setup finishes, you just need to restart the device to install the new OTA. It takes 10 to 15 seconds to restart the phone and get the latest OTA installed.

Apart from reducing downtime, Seamless Updates also secure your device from software malfunctions. If an OTA fails to apply, the user will not be affected. The user will continue to run the old OS, and the user is free to re-attempt the update.

Galaxy S25 FE could use S24′ Exynos instead of Dimensity 9400

Published

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE October 2024 update

Exynos 2500 cancellation could lead the Galaxy S25 FE to use the same chip as the Galaxy S24 series. Samsung could use the standard Exynos 2400 in next year’s Fan Edition, potentially canceling the MediaTek Dimensity 9400.

Tipster @chunvn8888 claims that Samsung has canceled the Exynos 2500. The company has been facing yield issues with its 3nm foundry. It has tried to improve the yield rate but didn’t succeed in reaching the production threshold level.

Galaxy S24 FE comes with Exynos 2400e, suggesting that the S25 FE could get Exynos 2500e. As the standard variant canceled itself, the “e” variant is almost unlikely. That said, the Galaxy S25 series will ship with Snapdragon 8 Elite globally.

Samsung has recently released the Galaxy S24 FE. The phone packs the Exynos 2400e, which is a slightly underclocked variant of the Exynos 2400. As the device’s launch is nearly a year away, things may change as the story progresses.

This year’s Fan Edition brought key upgrades such as a larger and brighter display, a bigger battery, and the latest processor. Next year’s FE will not come with the newest chip as 3nm Snapdragon is quite expensive and Exynos 2500 is canceled.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Release Date

Samsung could launch the Galaxy S25 series in January 2025. The company will only drop confirmation about two weeks before Unpacked. The January release window aligns with this year’s Galaxy S launch timeframe.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra could debut a significantly refined design, consisting of slightly rounded corners, thin symmetrical bezels, and a flat frame. The display and camera aspects would not get any notable upgrades.
