Samsung continues to roll out the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update for eligible Galaxy smartphones and tablets, with the mid-range Galaxy F42 5G phone becoming the latest to grab it.
The Korean company is dispatching the Samsung Galaxy F42 One UI 5.0 update with a handful of new features and countless improvements. Alongside, the OEM also installs the November 2022 Android security patch for system stability enhancements.

As per the official changelog, the One UI 5.0 update for your Galaxy smartphone comes with many new app icons, smoother animation, faster performance, and various user interface tweaks. It brings revamped Quick settings panel and the Notification panel that now has bigger notification icons.
While considering the features, the new software gets 16 color palettes and basic color options that will now apply to more Samsung, Google, and third-party apps, various Lock screen customization options to let users edit every element of the screen, and Connected devices Setting menu which has all connectivity related functions.
Next, the update brings the Extract text feature for copying text from images or banners, Per-app language to set different languages for different apps, and Notification permission to provide you more control over system notifications.
Furthermore, there are advanced Camera features that will guide you to capture perfect shots and add a Watermark to your pictures, a new Security and Privacy dashboard in the Settings, Stack Widgets feature for better Home Screen management, and much more.

Samsung announced its Q3 2024 earnings with consolidated sales of 79.1 trillion won ($57.2 billion) and an operating profit of 9.18 trillion won ($6.6 billion), down by 1.26 trillion won from the previous quarter.
The MX (Mobile) Division saw a 13% improvement from the previous quarter given the launch of new Galaxy phones. The DS (semiconductor) division grew 3% from the previous quarter due to an increase in high-end memory sales.
The Korean tech giant also revealed that sales increased by 7% QoQ, achieving record-high quarterly sales. Gross profit reached 30 trillion won, slightly up from the previous quarter due to the expansion of flagship sales in MX.
Samsung continued its active R&D investments, recording an all-time high of 8.87 trillion won in quarterly R&D expenses. DS Division’s one-time expenses were larger than the gap between Samsung’s operating profit and market consensus.

Apart from earnings results, Samsung confirmed the Galaxy S25 series will launch in the first half of next year. The company vowed to introduce an enhanced Galaxy AI experience for consumers to elevate their everyday tasks.
