Samsung Galaxy A72 grabs February 2023 update, One UI 5.1 is next?

We are in mid-February 2023 and Samsung has started releasing a fresh update for Galaxy A72 users. The latest update comes with One UI build version A725FXXS5CWB2, which brings February 2023 security patch to improve system security and stability.

February 2023 update is initially rolling out for Samsung Galaxy A72 users in India and the company will expand it in more regions soon. Users will have to download a 248.73 MB to install the update.

February 2023 Security Patch 

According to official information, the February 2023 security patch addresses a total of 55 vulnerabilities and exposures that compromise device security and user privacy. Among them, 5 CVEs are critical level, 43 CVEs are high level, and medium level CVEs are not certain.

However, there are seven Galaxy-specific bug fixes that affect various One UI apps and services such as the Phone app, Contacts, fingerprint scanner, Window Manager service, Recent Secure Folder, and more.

How to update?

To install the latest update, the first thing you should do is head to the Settings app on your Galaxy smartphone, then scroll down and tap on Software updates, then tap on the Download and install option. Now, follow the on-screen instructions.

One UI 5.1

Samsung unveiled the newest version of custom skin One UI i.e One UI 5.1 on February 01, 2023, at the Galaxy Unpacked event. The company brings new features and improvements to provide a seamless Galaxy experience.

The main highlighted features of One UI 5.1 are Bixby text English support, Battery Widget, easy Expert RAW access, new camera options, AI-derived Remastering feature, GIF feature, and more.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 users are getting the September 2024 security update in Canada. The update installs the latest Android security patch to improve system security and stability. This update is already out for locked models in the US and the company will soon make it available in more countries.

The latest update improves performance by fixing a bunch of security issues. It fixes 1 critical and 43 high-level security issues. It’s worth noting that 1 CVE was fixed in earlier updates and 1 does not affect Galaxy devices.

Along with Google’s fixes, Samsung is adding 23 of its own security improvements to enhance the user experience. These vulnerabilities are related to My Files, Theme Center, One UI Home, Knox, and Dex.

Users of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 are getting the September 2024 security update in Canada with One UI build version F741WVLS1AXHC. They have to download a 426MB package to install the update. This update is based on Android 14 and One UI 6.1.1.

To check for software updates manually, head toward your phone’s Settings. At the bottom, you will get the Software update section, simply open it. Inside the submenu, you need to hit the Download and install button if your Galaxy fetches a new OTA.

Aside from this, Samsung has also started the One UI 6.1.1 rollout for older Galaxy devices. The Galaxy S24 series has started getting the major One UI 6.1 update with the September 2024 security patch. The company will start rolling out this major update to Galaxy S23, S23 FE,  Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Z Fold 5 from next week.

September 2024 is going on and Samsung is rolling out a new update for the Galaxy A23 4G smartphone, which installs the August 2024 Android security patch to improve system security. The update is rolling out for users in Brazil and the company will expand it soon.

The 5G variant of the Galaxy A23 smartphone already received this update in the US. Now, users of the Samsung Galaxy A23 4G are getting an August 2024 security update through One UI build version A235MUBS8EXH3 in Brazil.

August 2024 security update fixes over 45 security issues, including 1 critical and 34 high-level vulnerabilities from Google. Notably, 1 CVE was previously resolved in earlier updates, and 2 CVEs are not applicable to Galaxy devices.
