Samsung Software Updates

Yesterday, Samsung published the May 2023 security patch details and software support chart. The document released by Samsung confirms that a handful of Galaxy devices will no longer receive new updates from May 2023, due to end of support.

According to Samsung software support, the Galaxy A40 and A10 smartphones will not get new updates from May 2023. In addition, the company has also dropped support for two tablets namely the Galaxy Tab S5e and Galaxy Tab A 10.1.

Samsung is greatly maintaining its software department, but it’s impossible for any OEM to continue the official support after a certain timeline. As four more Galaxy devices reach their end of support, we suggest users upgrade to new variants to ensure security and reliability.

These devices reach end of support:

  • Galaxy A40
  • Galaxy A10
  • Galaxy Tab S5e
  • Galaxy Tab A 10.1

Last month, the Korean tech giant ended support for the popular Galaxy A50 after its four years of launch. The same treatment is now given to the Galaxy A40, A10, Tab S5e, and Tab A 10.1. Notably, the Galaxy A70 and A80 are still on the support page for “some more” software updates.

Flagships apart, the affordable Galaxy A24, which launched last month, comes with Android 13-based One UI 5.1 pre-installed. The company committed to delivering up to four years of Android OS updates and five years of security patches to the device.

While OS upgrades keep your device fresh and loaded with new features, security updates play a key role in maintaining reliability and data security. With longer software updates support, Samsung is ensuring people use phones and tablets for an extended span.
