Samsung might not release Tri-Fold phone this year, but Huawei’s coming

Samsung Tri-Fold Prototype

Samsung is unlikely to release the Tri-Fold foldable phone this year. Huawei and Samsung were rumored to introduce their first triple-foldable devices in 2024. A new input indicates that Samsung may fail in bringing its rival against Huawei’s upcoming Tri-Fold phone.

IceUniverse tipped that Huawei could launch the world’s first Tri-Fold phone. The tipster mentioned that the handset will get no rival for a long time due to Samsung’s delay. It looks like Samsung doesn’t want to do hurry in exploring new form factors.

On July 10, Samsung will debut new Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 devices. The company has significantly reduced the thickness and weight of the next Fold. At the same time, a special “Slim” variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 might be launched in some markets later this year.

Ice noted that the Z Fold 6 Slim won’t be slimmer than foldable phones released in China. While Samsung is consistent with gradual hardware evolution, Chinese competitors are too aggressive. The company’s market share has already been divided in the global foldable market.

Well, Samsung is the only brand that sells foldable phones in the global market. China-based firms have also brought foldable products under their umbrella but didn’t do well. However, Samsung needs to evolve faster otherwise there will be a big danger in the future.

Last year, Samsung adopted the waterdrop hinge technology in its foldable phones. The company was not the first to use it in foldable handsets as several Chinese vendors utilized it. The technology made Samsung’s foldable folt flat, leaving no gap in the middle part.

Practically speaking, people still prefer buying regular bar-type flagship phones. Foldable phones undoubtedly matured enough and offer enhanced durability over generations. Still, the product lineup requires time and innovation to enter the mainstream.

Samsung forging big August 2024 Camera update for Galaxy S24 Ultra

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Camera 2024

Samsung could release a major camera update for the Galaxy S24 series in August 2024. While the flagships are yet to receive the July patch, details about the next month’s firmware surfacing online. The release timeline aligns with the rollout of new Galaxy AI features for the S24 series.

According to IceUniverse, Samsung will significantly improve the camera of the Galaxy S24 Ultra with the August 2024 update. The tipster claimed that the firmware is ‘about to be launched’ – hinting at the commencement of internal development and testing.

The source highlighted areas that will likely be improved with the update. The details include white balance optimization, HDR optimization, over-processing optimization, overexposure optimization, face optimization, and video zoom optimization.

Notably, the update may disappoint users waiting for a Telephoto camera and Nightography optimization beyond 10x zoom. The firmware will hopefully be optimized in August itself so the consumers will start getting it in the same month without any delay.

Earlier this year, Samsung launched the Galaxy S24, S24 Plus and S24 Ultra. The S24 Ultra features a 200-megapixel primary camera, a 50-megapixel 5x Periscope, and a 10-megapixel 3x Telephoto. Non-Ultra models of the lineup will also receive notable camera improvements.

For the next year, the South Korean tech giant has pretty big plans. Samsung is said to replace the current 12-megapixel Ultrawide and 10-megapixel Telephoto with new 50-megapixel solutions. The next Ultra might also ditch boxy design, reducing the sharp corners.
