The South Korean smartphone maker offers the best Android smartphones across the planet. Apple, on the other hand, is its biggest rival based in the United States. Meanwhile, a Gallup survey of 1,001 adults found that Korean youngsters prefer iPhone over Samsung Galaxy.

According to the info, in South Korea, 69 percent of adult smartphone users use a Samsung device, while only 23 percent use iPhones. The survey also revealed a starkly different trend in one demographic: younger millennials and Gen Z.

The survey reveals, among the younger generation (aged 18 to 29), iPhone’s share rises to 65 percent, double Samsung’s 32 percent. This represents a 13 percent increase in iPhone use from last year and stands in sharp contrast to older cohorts, where Samsung holds strong with numbers above 70 percent.

In the 40s age group, 78 percent used Galaxy compared to 18 percent for iPhone, with the gap growing even larger in older age groups. For those in their 50s, 60s, and 70s, the figures stood at 86 percent versus 6 percent, 85 percent vs. 4 percent, and 71 percent vs. 1 percent, respectively, predominantly in favor of Samsung.

The survey credited iPhone’s appeal among young people to Apple’s premium branding – for the same storage size, an iPhone 14 costs 1,250,000 won compared to the Galaxy S23’s 1,150,000 won. The introduction of Apple Pay, to Korea earlier this year was cited as another contributing factor.

Meanwhile, 85 percent of respondents said they are likely to stick with their current brand, a sign of strong customer loyalty influenced by easier cross-device syncing and data-sharing within products of the same brand. This trend could mean long-term growth for iPhone’s market share in South Korea.

Samsung galaxy Z Flip 6 September 2024 update

Samsung could pack the Galaxy Z Flip FE and Z Flip 7 with Exynos processors. The company could launch its first affordable foldable phone next year. The device could get a different camera and processor from the Galaxy Z Flip 7.

Leaker Jukanlosreve revealed that Samsung could use the Exynos 2400e in the Galaxy Z Flip FE and Exynos 2500 in the Galaxy Z Flip 7. The former Exynos variant powers the Galaxy S24 FE, while the Exynos 2500 is an upcoming product.

Samsung previously intended to use Exynos 2500 in the Galaxy S25 series. However, the chip has a major performance difference from its Snapdragon counterpart. This led the company to solely rely on the Snapdragon 8 Elite for the S25 series.

Exynos 2500 is being manufactured using Samsung Foundry’s 3nm process node. The yield rate is quite low (around 20%), which is far from the production threshold. However, Samsung chose the path to produce the chip at such a low yield rate.

Exynos 2400 has proven to be a decent chip with no frustrating flaws. The Exynos 2400e could be used in the Z Flip FE. The “e” model could be made using IPoP (Integrated Package on Package) tech, which is cheaper than the standard method.

Recently, a Korean media outlet reported that Samsung Foundry has started mass production of a 3nm Exynos 2500 chip. It was initially intended to be used in the S25 and S25 Plus, but issues pushed it towards the second-half debut in the Z Flip 7.
