Samsung Pay comes to Galaxy Watch 4 in India and it’s working FINE!

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic have received a major One UI 5 Watch update in India that enables Samsung Pay, the company’s mobile payment service. Users can now make contactless payments with their Galaxy Watch 4 devices.

Samsung Pay was one of the most anticipated features of the Galaxy Watch 4 series, which runs on the new One UI 5 Watch platform based on Wear OS 4. However, some users faced a glitch that prevented them from setting up and using Samsung Pay on their smartwatches.

The issue may have occurred because Samsung changed the name of its mobile payments service from Samsung Pay to Samsung Wallet in some regions earlier this year. But the Galaxy Watch 4 was still looking for the old app name. This created a loop that asked users to update their Watch software even if they had already done so.

The new report (via tipster Tarun Vats) suggests that Samsung has fixed this issue and working fine as expected. Users can now install and use Samsung Pay on their Watch 4 without any issues. The update also adds some new watch faces and features to the smartwatch.

One UI Beta countries

Back in August 2024, Samsung released the One UI 6 Watch Beta for its Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 5, and Galaxy Watch 6 models. This update is currently available only in the US and South Korea. However, there’s good news for Galaxy Watch users in other countries as Samsung might open up the One UI Beta program to more countries in the year 2025.

Right now, the One UI Watch Beta program is limited to these two countries as Samsung collects feedback and makes changes to ensure that any issues are fixed before a wider release. The feedback from these initial testers is important for improving the software.

According to the Samsung community moderator, the beta program is currently only in the US and South Korea, and it is expected to expand to more regions in the future. However, the expansion of the One UI Watch Beta program is expected but not yet confirmed.

Samsung is currently working to manage the beta testing process to ensure that when they do expand, it will be smooth and error-free for all users.

For those eager to participate but currently outside the US and Korea, the wait might not be too long. Samsung is expected to expand the One UI Watch Beta to more countries next year.

Aside from this, the stable version of One UI 6 Watch is expected to be released shortly, as the beta phase for One UI 5 has already been completed. Stay tuned for further updates.
