How to fix randomly shut down issue on Samsung smartwatch

Samsung Smartwatch combines everything you would expect from any smartwatch to do in one place. It provides a variety of detailed notifications such as when you receive a message, your watch will automatically show your chat history, instead of a single message, so you can pick up your conversation faster.

In addition, the smartwatch comes with all the favorite features with advanced health monitoring features including blood pressure and ECG monitoring as well as other fitness. Along with your calling and messaging notifications.

However, there’s are some issues that you may face with your Galaxy watch including Random Shutdowns. If your watch unexpectedly shuts off, the most likely cause is a low battery. However, some other factors can create this problem, such as using the incorrect charger, having outdated software, or using corrupted third-party apps.

Below we’ll explore possible fixes to solve random shutdown issues on Samsung smartwatches.

Follow the below steps to fix the smartwatch randomly shut down issue:

FIX 1

Reboot your Samsung smartwatch

Press and hold the Power key until “Rebooting…” displays.

  • Power the watch off
  • Then press and hold the Home key (Power key) until ‘Rebooting’ displays.
  • For a Galaxy Fit, press and hold the Home key (Power key) for more than 7 seconds to reboot the watch.
  • Do not select Power off on the screen when it appears.
  • For a Galaxy Watch3, press and hold the Home key (Power key) and Back key at the same time to reboot the watch.

Release the Power key, and wait for the watch to reboot.

  • Release the Home key (Power key). The watch screen will go dark, and then the watch will reboot.
  • If the watch is connected to your phone, the devices will temporarily disconnect during the reboot.

Check for software updates.

  • When rebooting your watch to fix a problem, be sure to check for software updates on your watch and to the Galaxy Wearable app.

FIX 2

Charge your Samsung smartwatch

Verify you have the right charging dock.

  • Make sure you are using the charging dock that is designed for your watch’s model. Otherwise, it may not charge properly.

Set up the wireless charging dock.

  • Connect the charging dock to an approved Samsung wall adapter. Make sure you are using the dock that was included with your watch.

Charge the watch.

Place the watch on the appropriate charging dock. However, if you’re using a Wireless Charging Duo Stand or Wireless Charging Pad, lay the watch flat on the charging surface with the screen facing up.

Allow the watch to charge for at least 1 hour. If the watch’s charging indicator doesn’t appear on the display, press the Power key once.

  • If a charging error occurs, the charger’s LED will flash red or the watch screen will display a message. Remove the watch from the charger, and then properly place it back on the center of the charging surface.
  • If the watch heats up while charging and powering on, disconnect the watch from the charger and close any running apps.
  • Using the watch while charging may cause the battery to charge more slowly.

Power on the watch.

After the watch has charged for 1 hour, remove it from the charging dock. If the watch is powered off, press the Power key to power it on.

  • If the watch powers on, it needed to be charged. If it isn’t fully charged, power it off, and then reconnect it to the wireless charging dock.
  • If the watch fails to power on or charge after performing the troubleshooting steps, the watch and charging dock will need service. Please visit the Support Center to request service.

FIX 3

Issues with the downloaded watch face

Check the startup screen

Depending on where the issue occurs, it may or may not be caused by the downloaded watch face.

  • A simple restart can resolve an array of issues with your watch.
  • While the watch is starting up, pay attention if the issue occurs on the startup screen.
  • If the issue occurs after the startup screen fades, change or uninstall the downloaded watch face being used.

Uninstall the downloaded watch face.

  • Touch and hold the watch face.
  • Tap the Remove icon.
  • Tap the Checkmark to Uninstall.

Restart the watch.

  • After you have uninstalled the downloaded watch face, restart your watch to ensure that the issue has been resolved.

FIX 4

Uninstall apps from your Samsung smartwatch

Navigate to the app you want to uninstall.

Follow the steps below depending if you want to use the Galaxy Wearable app or the watch itself:

  • Galaxy Wearable: From your phone, open the Galaxy Wearable app, and then tap Apps. Depending on the connected watch, it may be necessary to tap the SETTINGS tab.
  • Watch: Press the Home key (Power key) on the watch to access the Apps screen, and then swipe to the apps you want to uninstall.

Uninstall the app.

Follow the steps below depending if you want to use the Galaxy Wearable app or the watch itself:

  • Galaxy Wearable: Tap Manage apps. Tap the app you’d like to uninstall, and then tap Uninstall. Then, tap Uninstall again to confirm.
  • Watch: Touch and hold the Apps screen, tap the Delete icon next to the app, and then tap the checkmark to confirm.

FIX 5

Factory reset your Samsung smartwatch

Unpair the watch from your phone.

  • Be sure to unpair the current Bluetooth connection between your watch and phone to avoid problems connecting.
    • Navigate to and open Settings.
    • Then tap Connections > Bluetooth.
    • From the ‘Paired Devices’ list, tap the Settings (gear) icon.
    • Then tap Unpair.

Enter the watch’s Reboot Mode menu.

Note: To factory reset the Galaxy Fit, continue to step four.

  • Power off the watch, and then power it back on.
  • While the watch is powering on, press and hold the Power key until ‘Rebooting’ is displayed.
  • Release the Power key, and then immediately press and release the Power key repeatedly to enter the Reboot Mode menu.

Factory reset the watch.

  • Continue to press and release the Power key until Recovery is highlighted.
  • Press and hold the Power key to select Recovery.
  • Then release the Power key when the screen goes dark.

Reconnect your watch to a phone.

  • After the Factory reset is complete, the watch will reboot.
  • Once the Welcome screen appears, connect the watch to a phone with the Galaxy Wearable app.
  • Then check if there’s an available software update for the watch.

Note: Your Samsung account will be required to set up the watch if the Reactivation lock was enabled before the reset.
