At the Snapdragon Summit 2023, Qualcomm officially launched the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. It would be shocking for some; Qualcomm revealed which OEMs will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, in which, Samsung is missing!

Well, it’s not true that the next-gen flagship smartphones by Samsung will not be using the Snapdragon chipset. However, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered Galaxy S phones won’t be available in the market as there will be a custom “for Galaxy” edition.

Last year, the US chip designer introduced the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipset. This product powers the Galaxy S23 series smartphone internationally. Similarly, the upcoming Galaxy S24 devices will get a modified variant of the newly released Snapdragon.

Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy is expected to launch in January 2024. The “for Galaxy” model is expected to boast the same performance as the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 3, which Qualcomm will launch in the first half of next year.

Pixel 9 Pro XL sparks privacy fears, sends private data to Google every 15 minutes

Pixel 9 Pro XL reportedly sends private user data to Google servers every 15 minutes. A security researcher at Cybernews discovered that the phone frequently transmits sensitive user data, such as email addresses, phone numbers, and locations.

The discovery sparked a privacy fear as private data is being sent to Google through the Pixel 9 Pro XL. The smartphone sometimes transmits sensitive user data to Google servers even before any apps are installed.

The report also states that the Pixel 9 Pro XL has remote management capabilities, which operate without user consent or awareness. It seems there’s a severe security flaw within the Pixel 9 Pro XL’s operating system.

The phone communicates with services like Google Photos’ Face Grouping without user interaction, raising further privacy concerns. The native Calculator is also suspicious as it could leak calculation history to unauthorized users under certain conditions.

“The amount of data transmitted and the potential for remote management casts doubt on who truly owns the device. Users may have paid for it, but the deep integration of surveillance systems in the ecosystem may leave users vulnerable to privacy violations,” Nazarovas said.

It looks like the AI integration has made some major security flaws across the OS. Google packed the new Pixel phones with advanced security features. The research only discusses potential threats, with data leak isn’t such a general task.

Interestingly, Cybernews researchers employed a “man-in-the-middle” approach to capture and analyze this traffic but noted limitations due to the rooting process. As AI is making our lives easier, it is putting the data at threat at the same time.

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE October 2024 update

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE outperformed the Apple iPhone 16 Plus in ray tracing. The new Fan Edition is equipped with an Exynos 2400e processor, while Apple’s iPhone 16 Plus uses an A18 chip manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm process.

GSMArena evaluated the Exynos 2400e performance used in Galaxy S24 FE. The chip has a slightly lower core frequency than the Exynos 2400. However, this modification made no major change in terms of performance.

Galaxy S24 FE with Exynos 2400e scored 2146 and 6711 points in single-core and multi-core tests, respectively. It’s slightly less than the 2201 single-core and 6926 multi-core points in the Galaxy S24’s Exynos 2400 chipset.

Apple’s A18 chip lags behind the Exynos 2400e used in the Galaxy S24 FE in ray tracing performance. The iPhone 16 scored 6,691 points in 3DMark’s Solar Bay test, whereas the Exynos Exynos 2400 scored 8,743 points.

Meanwhile, the phone scored 3,870 points in 3DMark’s Wild Life Extreme GPU test at 4K resolution compared to 4,029 points of the iPhone 16 Plus. The Galaxy S24+’s Exynos 2400 chip scored 4,365 points on the same benchmark.

iPhone 16 Plus is a flagship phone, while the S24 FE belongs to Samsung’s Fan Edition. The mainstream flagship line is S24, which is far ahead in GPU performance. Apple’s CPU edge will also be crushed with the Galaxy S25 series.
