WhatsApp released the disappearing messages on Android and iOS last year, allowing users to send self-destructing messages after a while. Currently, you can only set messages to disappear after seven days. But that will change soon as WhatsApp works to add more options to the feature that will allow messages to last longer than seven days.

Earlier, WhatsApp released a new update to the beta channel that added the 24-hour message loss option. Now, WABetainfo has seen evidence that the new 90-day option can be added to the disappearing message feature in the latest WhatsApp beta update (v2.21.9.6).

Once uninstalled, WhatsApp users will have more flexibility when sending disappearing messages and can choose between multiple options – 7 days, 24 hours, or 90 days – depending on their needs.

The 24-hour and 90-day options are not currently live in the latest version of WhatsApp but may be up for future updates. As with any new features of WhatsApp, the options for new disappearing messages may first arrive at the beta channel before everyone else does. If you want to be among the first to try it, you can join the WhatsApp beta program here.

After facing serious criticism of the controversial policy change, WhatsApp has been working hard to develop new privacy-focused features to try to restore users’ trust and gain access to their rivals Telegram and Signal. As part of this push, a Facebook-based company has recently released a media feature of “ View Once” that disappears for everyone and is working on increasing end-to-end encryption for both cloud and local backups.

Other notable features recently added to WhatsApp include improved team driving experience, high-quality photo transfer capabilities, and multi-device support. Besides, WhatsApp will soon allow you to transfer your conversations and media from iPhone to Android.

WhatsApp Call Link feature

WhatsApp for Android is rolling out a new beta update with version 2.24.21.29, which comes with a handy call link feature. This update makes it easier for users to start calls in both individual and group chats.

With this new feature, users can easily generate call links without needing to go to the Calls tab. The call link shortcut is now located in the chat attachment menu. Previously, creating call links was a bit complicated since users had to go to the Calls tab to generate them.

Now, to use the Call Links feature, simply tap the attachment icon while chatting. This makes starting a call faster and more convenient since you can do it right from your ongoing conversation.

Initially, the call link feature was only available for group chats, but now it works for individual chats as well. Many people might not have known they could create call links before, but this update makes it clear and easy to use.

This call link feature is currently available to some beta testers who have installed the latest version of WhatsApp from the Google Play Store. As the update continues to roll out, more users can expect to see this feature in the coming days.

Android users get iOS-like contact syncing feature with fresh WhatsApp Beta

WhatsApp Call Link feature

WhatsApp has released a fresh update for beta users on Android with version 2.24.21.26. This update introduces a new feature that gives users more control over how their contacts are synced across different devices on WhatsApp.

The latest update allows users to add, edit, or delete contacts from any device linked to their WhatsApp account, such as tablets or computers. It means that any changes made on one device will automatically sync to all other connected devices. It helps contact list up-to-date no matter where you are.

For those who want to keep personal and work contacts separate, there’s an option to disable syncing for specific accounts. This lets users prevent certain contacts from showing up in their WhatsApp to maintain privacy.

Moreover, WhatsApp also adds extra security by using cryptographic hashes to protect the phone numbers of contacts who aren’t on the app. This ensures that user data remains safe while still allowing WhatsApp to monitor for any unusual activity related to contact uploads.

Users can still chat with their existing contacts as the app remains fully functional, even with contact syncing turned off. If someone switches to a new phone or reinstalls WhatsApp, their linked contacts will automatically be restored easily.

WhatsApp contact syncing feature was already available to iOS users, and now Android beta testers can enjoy the same benefit. As the update rolls out, more users will have the chance to try this privacy feature.

WhatsApp Call Link feature

WhatsApp is bringing a new feature to improve notification management, especially for group chats through a new beta update. The fresh version of WhatsApp is available with version 2.24.21.22 in the Google Play Beta Program.

The new beta update of WhatsApp adds a new notification activity feature for group chats. It will let users choose how they want to receive notifications. There are two choices – All and Relevant to me.

  • All: Users can get notifications for every message in the group.
  • Relevant to Me: They will receive only important ones like mentions and replies.

In this way, users can easily manage large groups as the features help to reduce unnecessary messages. This change is particularly helpful for those in large groups.

Additionally, the new notification activity screen will help explain how muting group chats works. Currently, some users find it confusing when they still receive notifications from muted groups.

The new feature aims to make this clearer as it allows users to see exactly what types of notifications they can still receive, even when a group is muted.

WhatsApp is currently working on these features to enhance user experience and will make them available in future updates. Till then, stay tuned with us.
